Important Compliance Rule: Gas installations above false ceilings must follow strict regulatory requirements to ensure safety, compliance, and long-term reliability.

Why Compliance Matters for Above Ceiling Gas Pipe Installation

According to applicable standards, only galvanised iron, steel, or copper pipes are permitted for this type of installation, and only steel pipes are allowed to have welded joints.

To meet these requirements, Homeone carried out the Gas Pipe Above False Ceiling Repair using a Steel API Pipe (Grade B) with properly welded joints. All welding works were tested using radiographic inspection in accordance with API 1104, helping to ensure there are no hidden defects and that the installation is safe.

For the gas appliance supply point installation, a transition joint was installed to connect the steel pipe to the copper pipe, ensuring proper material compatibility and a secure gas connection.

In addition, a Syphon Leg was installed at the gas stove appliance point. This method allows condensate (moisture) within the gas pipe to be collected and prevented from entering the appliance, reducing the risk of corrosion, blockage, and performance issues.

Why these methods matter: These measures are not just good practice. They form part of ensuring full compliance, safe operation, and long-term reliability of the gas installation.

Site Assessment & Engineering by LGSW

The project began with a detailed on-site assessment to evaluate the installation conditions, routing requirements, and safety considerations for the above ceiling gas pipe works.

Following this, our Engineering team, led by a Licensed Gas Service Worker (LGSW), developed a technical design and installation plan to ensure full compliance with Singapore standards.

Our team also worked closely with the homeowner to clearly explain the scope of work, timeline, and compliance requirements before proceeding with the necessary regulatory submissions.

City Energy Gas Submission and Regulatory Approval

Homeone managed the complete City Energy gas submission, including submission of DR01 APPLICATION OF GAS SUPPLY FOR ADDITIONAL AND ALTERATION OF CONSUMER’S INTERNAL PIPE, and the gas pipe design drawings for the above ceiling API Gas Pipe alteration works.

Approval was obtained through CITYGAS FORM GR01, confirming that the proposed installation met all regulatory requirements before installation began.

All submissions and approvals were handled in accordance with SINGAPORE STANDARD, SS 608, CODE OF PRACTICE FOR GAS INSTALLATION.

Gas Pipe Installation, Pressure Testing, and Commissioning

Our LGSW-supervised team carried out the above ceiling API Gas Pipe alteration and gas pipe installation in strict accordance with approved engineering design and safety protocols.

Upon completion, we conducted a Radiographic test and a Final pressure test, and submitted FORM DR04_NOTIFICATION OF FINAL PRESSURE TEST / REQUEST OF TURN-ON OF GAS SUPPLY, followed by successful commissioning and issuance of GR04_STATEMENT OF TURN ON/ COMMISSIONING OF GAS SUPPLY: A & A WORK TO EXISTING INSTALLATION.

The installation was thoroughly inspected and tested to ensure:
  • Gas-tightness and leak-free condition
  • Proper connection of all components
  • Safe operating condition
  • Correct gas pressure within operating range
