Gas Installation Inspection & Soundness Test – Six Battery Rd, Singapore

Ensuring gas safety in commercial buildings is not just good practice—it’s a regulatory requirement in Singapore. We completed a soundness test and an inspection of gas installation at a non-residential premises located at Six Battery Rd. This project was carried out in strict accordance with Singapore Standard SS 638:2024 and supervised by our Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW), Mr. Chew (Licence No. GA/01731992). Our work included leak detection using certified gas detectors, a soundness test, and the issuance of the official Certificate of Fitness (COF).

🛠️ Scope of Work
We carried out a full inspection of gas installation and soundness test as required under the Energy Market Authority (EMA) guidelines. This is part of the annual inspection programme for non-residential properties, ensuring all gas pipework meets safety and compliance standards.
📄 Notification for Inspection of Gas Installation (SP Group)
This letter outlines the legal obligation under Gas Act (Cap. 116A), requiring inspection and certification of gas pipes from the the meter installation to appliances .
The inspection must be conducted by a Licensed Gas Service Worker (LGSW) or Professional Engineer (Mechanical), in accordance with regulatory standards.
✅ Responsibility for Gas Pipe from Gas Meter to Appliance
Our team performed a thorough inspection of this section using a high-grade gas detector. This detector is regularly calibrated and certified to deliver precise leak detection results, ensuring test reliability and safety assurance.
A visual inspection was also carried out to assess the condition of the exposed pipes and check for signs of corrosion or deterioration.
These measures help confirm that the gas piping from the meter to the gas appliances is in a safe working condition and meets regulatory expectations.
🔍 Soundness Test
Our Homeone LGSW supervision team carries out the soundness test in accordance with Singapore Standard SS 638:2024 and EMA regulatory guidelines.
The test begins with isolating the gas supply and pressurising the internal pipe system. Using a calibrated pressure test kit, our team monitors for any pressure drops or irregularities that may indicate leaks.
All equipment used is certified and regularly calibrated to ensure accuracy and reliability. Our team also ensures the test is conducted under safe and controlled conditions for consistent results.
Upon successful completion, the system is confirmed leak-free and ready for issuance of the Certificate of Fitness (COF).
📄 Certificate of Fitness (COF)
After the successful completion of inspection and testing, we issued a Certificate of Fitness (COF) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
This certificate verifies that the gas pipe from the the meter installation to appliances is leak-free, safe for continued operation, and compliant with SP Group and EMA standards.
