Gas Work Alteration A and A Inspection at iNz Residence on 24 Sep 2025

Homeone was engaged to inspect a Gas Work Alteration A and A to ensure the gas work alteration comply with Singapore Standard SS 608: 2024 Code of Practice for Gas InstallationEMA Gas Work RegulationsGas Supply Regulations, City Energy Handbook on Gas Supply, no gas leak and safe to use.

Gas Work Alteration A&A Inspection - Inz Residence - 01 IMPROPER JOINT

The Gas Alteration A and A Work joined a new copper pipe to the original GI (Galvanized Iron) gas pipe. This violates SS 608:2024, Clause 6.6 Copper pipes, (e): Copper pipes shall not be joined to steel pipes and fittings where there is a possibility of being in contact with electrolytic liquid such as groundwater, etc.

Gas Work Alteration A and A Inspection - Inz Residence - 02 ILLEGAL JOINTS AT ABOVE CEILING

The Gas Alteration A and A Work used a 2 joints at above false ceiling. This violates SS 608:2024, Clause 5.5.2 – Enclosed or unventilated compartments and false ceilings, (b): Except for steel pipes with welded joints, galvanised iron and copper pipes shall have no joints.

The Gas Alteration A and A Work used non-specification copper pipe for gas, and this violates SS 608:2024, Section 6.6 Copper pipes, (a): Copper pipes shall comply with BS EN 1057.

Refer to the photos: we can see that the non-specification copper pipe thickness is only 10mm, which is smaller than the BS EN 1057-compliant copper pipe of 20mm.

The Gas Alteration A and A Work is missing a Syphon Leg at the lowest point.

This violates SS 608:2024, Section 3.40 – Syphon Leg: A short, downward vertical extension pipe is installed at the lowest point of a gas installation for the collection and removal of condensate when required.

Gas Work Alteration A&A Inspection - Inz Residence - 05 FINAL PRESSURE TEST - GAS LEAK

The Gas Alteration A and A Work did not carry out Final Pressure test to ensure no leak and safe to use. Homeone has carried out a Final Pressure and found there is a leak and advised the customer that the Final Pressure Test failed, not safe to use gas and need to engage EMA Licensed Gas Service Worker to rectify the gas leak.

This violates SS 608:2024, 8.1.3 For consumer’s internal pipes, all materials tested at the pressure 450mm w.g. for 5 minutes.

The Gas Alteration A and A Work was significantly carried out by an unlicensed handyman.

This violates the City Energy Handbook on Gas Supply, which requires submission of Form DR01 to City Energy for approval before commencing any gas alteration or A&A work.
